Brian McFadden is affraid of fans

Brian McFadden claims Westlife's fans were "nuts" when he was in the band.

The singer - who left the Irish group in 2004 - admits some of their fans were over-zealous when he was a member, and he much prefers the older audience he performs to now.

He said: "Back in the Westlife days I might have thought 'not you again', because the fans did get a bit much. But they were very young, of course. It's not like that now because a lot of my fans are in their 20s or my age. But yes, back in the Westlife days it was like, 'Oh my God, here they come again - they're nuts!' "

Brian has grown up a lot since leaving the band, and feels he was quite immature when he first became famous.

He said: "I was only 17 when we started and I went through until I was 24 or 25. I was much younger back then. Even though I'm only 28 now, all that seems like a long time ago. That was like the college days of my life. I appreciate everything a lot more now."
