Sesame Street star Sam Sparro

Sam Sparro wants to be on 'Sesame Street'.

The 'Black and Gold' singer says he would love to star in the children's puppet show and thinks he would be perfect for a cameo role.

He said: "My favourite celebrity bird is Big Bird because I have always wanted to be on 'Sesame Street'!"

If Sam did realise his ambition, he would be following in the footsteps of a host of stars including James Blunt, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ellen DeGeneres, who have all appeared on the show.

Sam - whose album 'Sam Sparro' is out now - also revealed he first realised his vocal talent while singing in church.

He added: "I love 'His Eye is on the Sparrow'. I used to singe it in church and I also love Lauryn Hill's rendition of it in 'Sister Act 2'."

Despite growing up in Sydney, Australia, Sam decided to move to the UK when he was 17 in a bid to make it big in the music industry.

He recently revealed: "I was really into British music and wanted to move over here. I've always been interested in lots of different things - one of them was dance music but I was always into UK soul."
